The Thorndykes were notorious in the isolated farming community of Apple Creek, Vermont as a clan of ne'er do wells and troublemakers before the spacecraft belonging to the deposed Biocrator of the planet Dagon crash landed in Tar Lake on Erastus Thorndyke's cattle farm. (B.E.I.N FILE 0735442987. The Apple Creek Incident) The villainous alien quickly enslaved the Thorndyke patriarch and through him his extended family, exposing them and several of their farm animals to an advanced mutagen that left them all super powered monsters, the foundation of his conquest of Earth. The North East chapter of B.A.S.E. was called in for assistance by B.E.I.N. after initial investigators disappeared in the isolated community, and eventually managed to stop the Dagonite invasion in it's early stages. Mercy Thorndyke was considered by her neighbors in Apple Creek to be the pick of a bad batch, and during this crisis their impression was proven true, when she fought against the Biocrator's influence and aided the B.A.S.E. team in it's efforts. In the aftermath, she was exonerated by her actions and a lengthy battery of tests at B.E.I.N.'s Langly facility, and remanded to B.A.S.E.'s care since most of her next of kin were institutionalized as dangerous mutations. Miss Thorndyke has expressed considerable interest in joining the organization , and once she reaches 18 she will most likely attend the Titan Flats academy. By all indications she will make an exemplary agent.
