MATTER MAN : Secretary Luke Landers

Secretary Landers is unaware of how he gained his amazing power to switch between states of matter, but he first discovered his ability in an automobile accident while pursuing graduate studies at Colorado State University. He began is career in super powered crime fighting shortly afterward, when the Department of Defense approached him with membership in The Crusaders. Almost from the beginning he was an outspoken proponent of comprehensive yet fair super human policy, and was one of the most vocal supporters of the Emergent Sentients amendments. When The Crusaders disbanded in 1979, Matter Man was at the forefront of the creation of The Lawmen Agency, and served as the leader of that team for most of it's history. In 1988 he was appointed to the cabinet as the first super human Secretary for Super Human Affairs, turning over leadership of The Lawmen to Polymorph. Since the founding of B.A.S.E., he has served as the Bureau Chief for the Seattle chapter, but was called again to serve as Secretary for Super Human Affairs in 2000.
