Deadpan is the result of a discontinued cybernetics development program at the Los Alamos labs, with the goal of grafting Artificial Intelligence components into the cortex of brain damage sufferers. Essentially he is the recipient of an artificial brain prostheisis. His records indicate he was a special forces operative killed in the Gulf War, who had bequeathed his body to science. Following training and rehabilitation, the subject was attached to the Army's Perseus Team, but went A.W.O.L. in late 2002 in the midst of an operation in Europe.

The name Deadpan began to arise as an urban legend in New York City over the intervening years, until he surfaced in a kidnapping attempt at MIT in Boston, Massachusetts. He was captured by B.A.S.E. agents after a drawn out battle where he showed his complete disregard for human life. Deadpan is currently at large following a mass jailbreak from Boston Pa.Co.'s Lockdown facility in Fitchberg, MA. He is considered very dangerous, and under no circumstances should this sociopathic cyborg be approached.
