What historical records exist suggest that Jeremiah Rogan was an English pirate captain from the late 1700's who preyed on shipping between the nascent United States of America and Europe, and who had something of a reputation for tenacity. His burgeoning career as a buccaneer was cut short by the advent of the American warship, the USS Constitution. One day Rogan's small flotilla of ships chanced upon a freighter that was under escort from the Constitution. The pirate captain violently insisted on attacking, but such was his crew's fear of this state of the art American fighting ship that they mutinied, eventually casting him overboard lashed to an anchor, with his pirates flag draped over his head to hide their ship's identity. Recently, Rogan arose from the waters of Boston Harbor as a vengeful revenant, bent on sending Old Ironsides to the bottom. He had apparently spent his time wandering the bottom of the Atlantic, gathering resources for revenge. For transportation, he had aquired a magical boat once owned and subsequently lost by Boston B.A.S.E. agent Thunderhead, and following him was a small cadre of Sharktroopers he had discovered in a sunken submarine dating from WWII. On a cold February morning, Jolly Roger made his attack, only to be beaten by Boston's B.A.S.E. unit. His hijacked boat was reclaimed by Thunderhead, and his crew of monstrosities were subdued and taken into custody. The grim spirit vanished shortly afterward, leaving behind only a barnacle encrusted iron anchor. Authorities on the supernatural presume that the anchor is some sort of focus, but have deemed it inert after inital analysis. Whether this means Rogan's ghost is gone for good or not is unknown. |
