TRUNCHEON : Mitchell Callahan

"My arms are longer than the law's, and hit a hell of a lot harder too."

Mitchell Callahan is an ex-Houston police officer with numerous black marks on his record for excessive use of force and violations of suspects' civil rights. His overzealous pursuit of the law made him several enemies in the underworld, and one night in 1986 a gang of thugs brutally assaulted him, leaving his hands crippled. After being released from the police force, Callahan spiraled downward into depression and alcholism, and probably would have drunk himself to death save for the intervention of his uncle, the late Dr. William Callahan, a cybernetics expert at the Los Alamos facility. Over a three year period, the elder Callahan and his nephew developed a unique bionic system, based on captured Soviet technology that had been smuggled out of the Los Alamos labs, with Mitchell serving as the test subject. Dr. Callahan died of a stroke shortly after completion of the device, and soon his nephew had embarked on a career as a vigilante crime fighter, primarily in Houston. In the following years, he took his reputation for brutality to new hights, such that The Vigilantes refused him membership in 1988. This, as well as frequent clashes with Astro Girl (a.k.a. Astro Woman) and subsequently The Lawmen Agency, over his excessive tactics left Truncheon increasingly embittered, and by 1995 he had ceased to fight for law and order and became a criminal, robbing and killing as he saw fit, and hiring his services out as a thug to the highest bidder. He operates primarily in the South West, and takes particular pleasure in assaulting police officers and destroying squad cars. This individual is extremely dangerous, and should be approached with great caution.
